‘Mini Chef’ Chicken Noodle Soup

Chicken noodle soup from my "Mini Chef" book

In our household, this is known as ‘get-better-soon’ soup. Make sure you use a good chicken stock so that the soup is really flavoursome. If you prefer, substitute wontons or mini dim sims for the noodles and use vegies of your choice. The recipe is from my new book Mini Chef – Cooking with Kids. [...]

This is an extract from the introduction to my new book, “Mini Chef – Cooking with Kids” (New Holland RRP$24.95) which you’ll find in bookstores nationally this week. “I like to sleep in on Sunday mornings, but when my children were little, they didn’t understand the difference between Sunday or any other day of the [...]

Green Papaya Salad

Hooray!  Salad days are here again. But what do you think of when you think salad? Mixed lettuce leaves, fresh herbs, sliced tomatoes and cucumber tossed together with a French or Italian dressing? Casserole dish

There’s a marvellous passage in Virginia Woolf’s novel, To The Lighthouse, which reveals her understanding of the importance of timing at a dinner party. “…they were having Mildred’s masterpiece – Boeuf en Daube. Everything depended upon things being served up the moment they were ready. The beef, the bayleaf and the wine – all must [...]
