THE Milton-Ulladulla region will celebrate the return of its annual food and wine festival this weekend.

Harbourfeast will kick off with a festival dinner at Cupitt’s Winery on Friday, November 4 and will continue the following day (Saturday, November 5) at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, showcasing the very best the Southern Shoalhaven has to offer in terms of food and wine. Rick Stein at Bannisters will be just one of the local eateries taking part and competing for the inaugural Harbourfeast ‘Plate of the Day’ trophy.

“There’ll be be something at the festival for everyone, regardless of their age, “ says Margun Carless, chair of the Harbourfeast organising committee. “The organising committee had gone to great lengths to deliver an event for the entire family.” Besides food and wine there’ll be live music from start to finish with Sydney-based jazz band Swing City headlining the entertainment.Workshops throughout the day will cover everything from pasta making and home brewing to fish filleting and oyster shucking.

Boules players using oranges and lemons will compete for the St Clement’s Cup while the winner of the Harbourfeast barbecue challenge will win a new barbecue courtesy of Bunnings. All participating eateries will be in the running to win Plate of the Day while wineries will compete for Wine of the Day.Waiters and waitresses will have the opportunity to test their cloche-carrying skills in the waiters’ race while members of the general public can compete for honours in the oyster shuck off. There will be a designated children’s area with a range of activities on offer for the kids including cup cake decorating, face painting, egg and spoon races and art and craft.There will also be plenty of rides. Special guest will be former rugby league great and media personality Andrew Ettingshausen who will perform a number of official duties throughout the day but who will also be on hand to chat with fans and sign autographs.

Doors will open at 10am and will be open until 5pm. Entry will be $10 for adults (over 18) and free for kids – the festival will boast one of the best childrens areas ever seen at a festival. The Ex Servo’s will have a marquee especially catering for children for lunch. There will also be the Lion’s Carousel, the Rotary jumping castle, a large outdoor sandpit, ozz ball water fun, facepainting, a clown and special areas designated for art activities for kids and more!
