About this Recipe
By: Sheridan Rogers
My daughter, Natali, made these gorgeous bikkies (cookies) for her daughter’s kindy Christmas party. She told me she was inspired by the Funny Face ones I’d decorated for a children’s party in my cookbook, Entertaining at Home (Lansdowne). They’re so easy and such fun to make especially if you get the kids to help.
Ingredients
- Royal Icing:
- icing sugar (pure) 1 1/2 cups, sifted
- egg white 1
- lemon juice, fresh 1/2 teaspoon
- sweet oval biscuits (such as Arrowroot) 16
- M&M’s or Smarties red and green
- 100s & 1000s 1/2 cup
- cachous silver (optional)
To make the Royal Icing: Lightly whisk egg white and lemon juice together in a bowl. Gradually add the icing sugar, whisking until smooth and combined. Spread icing evenly over biscuits using a small spatula (it helps to dip it first in warm water). Place eyes and nose in place using M&M’s or Smarties. For the beards, sprinkle with 100s &1000s. Leave until set (the icing will set quite hard).
